I will visit Switzerland, Germany and Serbia from 25 February to 5 March 2017 to advance Australia’s Human Rights Council campaign, advocate for the rights of people with disabilities and strengthen our bilateral relationships.

In Geneva, I will deliver Australia’s address to the High Level Segment of the Human Rights Council.

I will outline Australia’s strong case for a 2018-20 Council seat and explain the principled and pragmatic approach we will take in working with other members on contemporary human rights challenges if elected.

In Berlin, I will deliver the opening address at the Global Action on Disability (GLAD) Network meeting, co-chaired by Australia and the International Disability Alliance.

In meetings with government leaders, multilateral agencies and the private sector, I will discuss strategies for advancing the rights of people with disabilities when delivering humanitarian and development assistance.

In Belgrade, my meetings with Government officials will focus on strengthening our bilateral relationship with Serbia and will highlight Australia’s credentials as a respected human rights partner.
