I will visit Myanmar and Cambodia from 13-16 March to strengthen our development cooperation and bilateral relationships, in my first visit to both countries as Minister.

In Myanmar I will meet Ministers to discuss support for the country's political and economic transition. I will participate in the Australia-Myanmar High Level Consultations on Development Cooperation and address the inaugural Australia-Myanmar Strategic Dialogue.

I will also meet Australian volunteers, New Colombo Plan awardees and Australia Awards scholarship alumni who are building links between our countries, and visit Australian-funded projects that support local efforts to promote inclusive economic growth, improve education and build electoral capacity.

In Cambodia I will meet Ministers to discuss development cooperation and issues of regional strategic importance such as transnational crime, trafficking and irregular migration.

I will see first-hand how Australia's aid program supports Cambodia's economic and social development, making our region more stable, secure and prosperous.

I will also announce a new Australian program designed to support vulnerable people in Cambodia. Australia will provide up to $25 million over five years to improve the lives of people with disabilities, and women and girls who have experienced gender-based violence.
