Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Island Affairs, Richard Marles, is today in Vanuatu where he will meet Prime Minister Meltek Sato Kilman Livtuvanu.

Mr Marles will also meet the Deputy Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and senior business and economic representatives and community leaders.

"Vanuatu is a key partner country for Australia," said Mr Marles.

"I look forward to the opportunity of meeting with a range of leading Vanuatu economic figures and business people to hear first-hand how the economy is performing and its prospects for the year ahead.

"My talks will also include how Australian support is helping deliver the greatest possible benefit to the people of Vanuatu in education, health, infrastructure and governance."

With Vanuatu schools starting back this week after summer holidays, Mr Marles will visit Pango Primary School to see how Australia's work with the Vanuatu government and other donors in the education sector is making a difference for primary school children in Port Vila.
