I will travel to Frankfurt to represent the Treasurer at the 49th Asian Development Bank (ADB) Annual Meeting from 1-5 May 2016.

The ADB is an important partner for Australia in generating growth and reducing poverty in our region. We are working together to improve infrastructure, grow the private sector, enhance food security, build disaster resilience and strengthen gender equality.

I will use my visit to build on this cooperation with the ADB to ensure it is delivering results. A strong ADB supports economic growth and trade in our region, which is good for Australian jobs and means more opportunities for Australian business.

I will meet with finance and development ministers from across our region to discuss shared economic and development challenges.

I will also host a meeting of Pacific Island ministers to take forward the Government’s Green Climate Fund agenda to improve climate change resilience in the Pacific.

Australia is the 5th largest shareholder of the ADB and the 2nd largest donor to the Asian Development Fund. The ADB is a major co-financier of Australian aid projects.
