CONCETTA FIERRAVANTI-WELLS: I am here representing the Prime Minister.  Australia has been invited to participate in the high level dialogue on climate change and bio-diversity so I will be attending that meeting this afternoon with the French Foreign Minister and other leaders from the Pacific.  This evening we will have the opportunity to have dinner with President Macron.

BRUCE HILL:  It is a significant kind of meeting to have Australian, New Zealand and French representatives all present in Noumea for this kind of gathering isn't it?

CONCETTA FIERRAVANTI-WELLS: It is a demonstration of a commitment to the Pacific.  Of course France has been one of our key partners here in the Pacific. Our connection with France in the Pacific is one of very close cooperation. Of course France, with its territories - New Caledonia and French Polynesia - and both of those territories are members now of the Pacific Islands Forum, so when we are talking about the Pacific and talking about having a dialogue with the Pacific, having the presence of both of the French territories in the Pacific, it is understandable that President Macron has invited the leaders to dialogue with him on these issues of importance to him.
