Australia and Vietnam are deepening cooperation on climate resilience, research and innovation through the new Australia Corner at Can Tho University.
Located in the heart of Vietnam's Mekong Delta, the Corner will bring together Australian and Vietnamese researchers, institutions, businesses, and communities to develop practical responses to shared challenges.
The Mekong Delta is vital to Vietnam's economy and food security, but is increasingly exposed to rising sea levels, saltwater intrusion, severe weather, and other climate impacts.
Helping the region adapt is good for Vietnam and good for Australia. A stronger and more resilient Mekong Delta will support regional food security, economic stability and sustainable growth across our shared region.
The Corner will also create new opportunities for Australian researchers, universities and businesses to contribute their expertise, build enduring partnerships, and strengthen Australia's engagement in Southeast Asia.
As part of Australia's Aus4Adaptation program, the Corner will help turn research into practical solutions across areas including climate-smart agriculture, water management, nature-based solutions, and community resilience.
The Australia Corner will serve as a long-term hub for knowledge, education, and collaboration, helping successful solutions developed in the Mekong Delta reach more communities across the region.
