Address to the 2018 Papua New Guinea Investment Conference
Today I will deliver a special address at the 2018 Papua New Guinea Investment Conference in Brisbane. The conference will bring together 300 delegates from across the region, with the majority representing Australia and Papua New Guinea.
The conference will focus on business and investment opportunities across all sectors in Papua New Guinea's economy, with a particular focus on infrastructure.
My remarks will touch upon the Turnbull Government's vision for trade and investment with Papua New Guinea and on how effective collaboration can be enhanced.
The Australian government is committed to supporting a prosperous Papua New Guinea through our strong economic relationship and shared values. Australia is Papua New Guinea's largest trading partner, with two-way bilateral trade totaling more than $6 billion in 2017. Australian investment in Papua New Guinea comprises some 4,600 companies and $18 billion, principally within the resources and energy sectors.
I commend Business Advantage International for organising the conference, and for its effort to promote business and investment opportunities in Papua New Guinea.
