Visit to Belgium for EU Indo-Pacific Forum
This week I will travel to Belgium to represent Australia at the third EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum, as part of the Albanese Government’s ongoing diplomatic effort to promote peace and prosperity in our region and globally.
The Forum is an important opportunity to advance Australia’s interests with counterparts from Europe and the Indo-Pacific and to demonstrate the Australian government’s support for EU engagement with our region.
While in Brussels I will also meet with European, regional and other partners directly, to discuss geopolitical and security challenges, building economic resilience, climate change and the green energy transition.
The EU is an important and like-minded partner and shares Australia’s vision of a peaceful, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
The EU makes an important contribution to sustainable development, prosperity and stability in the Indo-Pacific and to addressing the region’s infrastructure needs, including through the EU Global Gateway Initiative.
The Albanese Government will continue to use all tools of our national power to shape a region that reflects our national interests and our shared regional interests.
