Visit to Egypt, Mauritius, UAE, and Bahrain
This week I will travel to Egypt, Mauritius, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain, to advance Australia’s interests and advocate with key countries in the Middle East and Africa in the pursuit of peace and the upholding of international law, including the protection of civilians and the unimpeded provision of humanitarian assistance.
In Cairo, I will attend the Ministerial Conference to Enhance the Humanitarian Response in Gaza.
My visit to Mauritius will strengthen engagement with a fellow Indian Ocean country working together on shared global challenges including maritime security, the blue economy and environmental security.
My primary focus in the UAE will be to discuss ways to build on the signing the Australia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in November 2024 to expand our economic ties.
In Manama, I will attend International Institute for Strategic Studies’ Manama Dialogue to discuss pathways to resolve the Middle East’s most pressing foreign-policy, defence and security challenges.
Australia will keep partnering with other countries to deliver aid, upholding international law and drive towards peace.
