Australia-Africa Week 2022

This week I will travel to Perth for Australia-Africa Week and to deliver the opening address at the Africa Down Under mining conference.

I will also discuss Australian foreign policy priorities in a roundtable dialogue at the Perth USAsia Centre.

Australia-Africa Week celebrates our diverse engagement with the nations of Africa.

As the focal point of the week, Africa Down Under brings together Australian mining and related companies, African governments, and the Australian and Western Australian governments to strengthen Australian mining and energy partnerships.

My visit underlines the importance the Australian Government attaches to our relationships with the governments and people of Africa.

We are committed to advancing our shared interests with Africa. While Australia is situated within the Indo-Pacific, we have global interests. These are important in their own right, and also have implications for our neighbourhood.

I look forward to a range of meetings in Perth with our business community, visiting African ministers and delegations, the Western Australian Government, and university representatives.
