Visit to Denmark and France

  • Media Release

This week I will travel to Denmark and France to promote Australian industry and champion global markets and rules-based free trade.

In Denmark, I will encourage investment and technology transfer to support Australia's green transition, manufacturing, and defence industry objectives, while meeting with government officials, investors and industry leaders.

Danish investors are deeply engaged in Australia's green transition, in line with the objectives of the Australia Denmark Strategic Partnership Arrangement, signed in 2023.

In France, I will attend the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Ministerial Council Meeting.

Discussions will focus on developing free, fair, rules-based trade; building economic security and resilience to economic coercion; emerging global challenges including net zero transitions and artificial intelligence; and trade and sustainable development.

I will advocate for continued OECD-Southeast Asia engagement and support for Indonesia and Thailand's accession ambitions.

While in France, I will host the annual Australian-chaired Informal Gathering of World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministers to build on outcomes from the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference. In particular, I will push for greater progress on dispute settlement and agricultural trade reform, and for negotiations on further fisheries subsidies rules to be concluded by the Northern summer.

I will also be announcing Australia's participation in the Hiroshima AI Process Friends Group, which aims to deliver beneficial outcomes for Australia and the world by ensuring the use of AI is safe and secure.
