Visit to Fiji

  • Media Release

This week I will travel to Fiji to further strengthen our deep and enduring relationship underpinned by our renewed and elevated Vuvale Partnership.

Fiji and Australia are working together on our shared priorities and challenges – tackling the climate crisis, strengthening our economies, and achieving our shared interest in a peaceful, prosperous, and resilient region.

Australia is proud to be Fiji's major development and security partner. During my visit I look forward to discussing how we can continue to practically support Fiji to deliver on their development priorities. While in Fiji, I will make announcements responding to those priorities, including on infrastructure, cyber and aviation, as well as skills development.

I'm delighted to continue my discussions with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka in Fiji, after several engagements in Australia, and look forward to discussing how we can work together to grow the partnership between Australia and Fiji

Australia and Fiji have an enduring history and shared values, including a love of sports that brings us even closer together. I am excited to be able to join a local TeamUp program during my visit and see first‑hand how Australia is helping Fijian communities access inclusive and safe sports activities.

This will be my first bilateral visit to Fiji as Minister for International Development and the Pacific and Minister for Defence Industry.
